Mäi Stroum dynamic solar

Our dynamic tariff for solar feed-in

Make the most of your solar energy

Our “Mäi Stroum dynamic solar” feed-in tariff follows wholesale market fluctuations on a 15‑minute basis. This allows you to optimise the return of your photovoltaic system by selling your electricity when market prices are most favourable, while prioritising self-consumption when prices fall.

This offer is designed for users equipped with smart energy management and storage systems.

Benefits and points to keep in mind

  • Opportunity to increase your earnings by feeding electricity into the grid when prices are high.

  • Ideal if you can adjust your consumption or make use of a storage system.

  • To be avoided: feeding in when prices are very low or even negative. During these periods, it’s better to prioritise self-consumption or storage.

How does it work?

The dynamic feed-in tariff changes every 15 minutes, based on prices on the European electricity exchange (EPEX Spot Day-Ahead). Prices are set one day in advance for each quarter-hour period of the following day and reflect the balance between supply and demand.

Key point: Adapt your consumption to take advantage of the most favourable periods and maintain the profitability of your system.

Your remuneration depends on conditions on the electricity market.

When demand is high

Prices rise – and so do your feed-in revenues.

This is typically the case in the morning, when your photovoltaic system begins generating electricity just as demand starts to increase again. At these times, feeding electricity into the grid becomes particularly attractive.

In the early evening, a similar trend can occur, although usually in a more moderate way, especially in winter, when daylight hours are shorter.

°
When supply exceeds demand

Wholesale market prices can drop sharply, or even turn negative.

In such situations, selling your electricity becomes less profitable and may even lead to costs.

This mainly happens around midday (between 12 pm and 2 pm), and even more so during the summer months. It’s therefore a good time to run energy‑intensive appliances, charge your electric vehicle, or store energy in your battery.

°
Is this the right tariff for me?

A dynamic feed-in tariff becomes particularly attractive if you can adjust both your electricity consumption and the amount you feed into the grid in line with market fluctuations.

To make the most of it, it’s useful to have programmable technologies and storage solutions, such as:

  • a smart home system that automatically manages your energy use based on market prices
  • a heat pump or air conditioning system with time scheduling, able to run when electricity is cheapest
  • a programmable EV charger, allowing you to charge your vehicle preferably when feeding electricity into the grid is less profitable
  • a smart battery, which stores the electricity you generate and feeds any surplus into the grid at the most rewarding times

By combining these solutions, you can optimise your self-consumption, increase your feed-in revenues, and reduce your overall energy costs.

Important!

If you’re unable to adjust your self-consumption and feed‑in according to price changes, you may end up exporting excess electricity when prices are low or even negative.

Tariffs valid as of 1st June 2026

The tariff applies to customers connected at low‑voltage or medium‑voltage level, across all electricity distribution networks in Luxembourg.

Price per kWh fed into the grid

The feed-in price is calculated based on the wholesale market price; a purchasing fee is charged per kWh fed into the grid.
